The GEF-UNIDO Industrial Energy Efficiency (IEE) & Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) Project is a national initiative designed to promote sustainable industrial development by improving energy efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and encouraging cleaner production practices in Nigeria.

The project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). National partners include:

IEE refers to optimizing energy use in industrial processes to reduce energy consumption and costs, while maintaining or improving production levels. It involves measures like energy audits, system optimization, and adoption of energy-efficient technologies.

RECP is a preventive approach to environmental management that improves the efficiency of energy, water, and materials use while reducing emissions, waste, and pollution. It goes beyond energy to address all forms of resource consumption in industrial processes.
